Do Camping Pods Have Electricity?

Camping pods (also known as glamping pods) have become extremely popular for people who want the rustic feeling of camping with some of the everyday conveniences we are used to having at home.  If you’ve never stayed in a camping pod before, you’re probably wondering: do camping pods have electricity?

Nearly all camping pods have electricity to offer air conditioning and power outlets to charge your devices and have lighting inside and outside.

There’s more to cover about electricity and camping pods, which we’ll go into further detail below.

What Is A Camping Pod?

A camping pod is a small wooden hut for two people used for camping rather than a tent that usually offers insulation and is shaped like a dome or a shed.

Think of it like a small, one-room cabin.  They started to gain popularity around the 1990s and have been steadily growing as a lodging option in parks and campgrounds ever since.

Glamping pods allow you to enjoy the outdoors with some of the basic comforts of home as they are insulated, warm, sometimes feature plush beds, electricity, and may even have features like a toilet and shower.

Electricity In Camping Pods

Most camping pods will have some source of electricity in them including wall outlets so you can plug in devices like your smartphone, an air conditioner or heater, small appliances, and also have interior and exterior lighting that you can turn on and off.

Some camping and glamping pods will even have TVs for an extra creature comfort.

Most camping pods require around 15-20kW of electricity each, so they’re usually powered by regular electricity, but can also run off of solar panels, a generator, or bottled LPG gas.

Some camping pods may not have electricity built-in but the campsite may offer a portable power pack for rent so you can still charge your personal devices.
