Wheel spacers can be used to either change wheel bolt patterns or to widen the offset of the wheel.
Because most golf cart wheel models from each of the main manufacturers (Yamaha, Club Car, and EZ-GO) have the same bolt patterns, the main use of wheel spacers on golf carts are to widen the wheel offset.

Luckily, choosing a set of wheel spacers for your golf cart is pretty straightforward.
We’ll cover the key items you need to pay attention to below:
Compatibility
Make sure you pay attention to which wheel spacers you’re looking at, as they’ll clearly state which brand of golf cart (and possibly years) they’re intended to fit.
Each golf cart manufacturer will have their own lug pattern, so don’t skip this step – you don’t want to pull the wheels off your cart and get everything ready only to find out that your spacers don’t match.
Spacer Type
There are two main options for spacers: floating bolt-on (circular/wheel style) spacers, and stud spacers.
There are others we won’t cover here as they’re not commonly available on the market and don’t bolt-on to your hub, which we don’t recommend.
Circular spacers are a disc that fits over the existing wheel bolt pattern on the hub and are secured with included lug nuts, then the wheel is attached to the spacer using the original lug nuts.
Circular spacers are the most common and in our opinion are the most secure and safest option.
Stud spacers are much cheaper, but often require you to disassemble the brake system and actually bolt the spacers directly to the hub, which takes a bit more know-how and time.
We recommend sticking with circular spacers as the benefits of stud spacers aren’t great enough to make the payoff of messing with them worth it.
Size
Most wheel spacers come in 1” (25mm), 2” (50mm), or 4” (200mm) thicknesses, with the most common size being the 2” option.
Some stud spacers can be found in 2.5” thicknesses as well if you really need that specific size.
How To Install Golf Cart Wheel Spacers
As always, look through the installation instructions provided with your wheel spacers.
Generally, circular spacers are installed as follows:
- Step 1: Life the golf cart off the ground using a jack, making sure it’s stable
- Step 2: Loosen the nuts fastening the wheel to the hub
- Step 3: Remove the wheel
- Step 4: Place the wheel spacer on the hub bolts & fasten with included lug nuts
- Step 5: Slide the wheel on to the bolt pattern on the spacer
- Step 6: Secure wheel to the spacer with your original lug nuts
