The Club Car Precedent golf cart is an extremely popular model that’s been in production for years and has built its reputation on reliability. Many owners enjoy it for personal use both on and off the golf course thanks to it being easy to maintain and customize, including replacing or modifying the cart’s tires. In order to change the tires, you’ll need to know the Club Car Precedent stock tire size.
The stock tire size on Club Car Precedent golf carts is 18 x 8.50 – 8, or 205/50-8. In other words, this means the tire is 18” in diameter, 8.5” wide, and fits on 8” wheels. Club Car Precedent tires do not require tubes.
Club Car Precedent Stock Tire Sizes
Most Club Car Precedent tires are 18” x 8.5” on 8” wheels, but golf carts can also come in 9”, 10”, or 12” sizes.
An 8” wheel will usually accommodate an 18” tire, but stock Club Car golf carts without a lift can fit up to 18.5” tires.
If you are trying to fit larger tires on a Club Car Precedent, you’ll need some golf cart wheel spacers to extend the wheelbase far enough to accomodate a larger tire, or you can also install a golf cart lift kit to get some extra headroom for the tires.
Here’s a simple chart to refer to if you’re looking to increase your Club Car’s tire size:
- 3” Lift – Up to 20” Tire
- 4”-5” Lift – Up to 22” Tire
- 6” Lift – up to 23” Tire
Note that tire measurements vary between brands, and you may require additional parts depending on the actual tire’s measurements.
Replacing Your Club Car Precedent Stock Size Tires
You can change the type of tires from your stock tires on your Club Car Precedent cart to better meet your needs.
If you’ll still be taking it on the golf course, make sure your tires are marked as golf course approved or check with your course that your tire treads are okay before heading out.
There are many different types of golf cart tires you can replace your Precedent stock tires with:
- Turf or Street Tires (the typical tires found on Club Car Precedent carts)
- Off-Road Or Knobby Tires (better for traction on mud, sand, or off-roading)
- All-Terrain Tires (provide off-road functionality but a smoother ride than knobby tires)
- Low-Profile Tires (gives a customized/stylized look to your golf cart without a lift kit)
